Lan Sercene

In an age long past, before even the arrival of the Aldmer, a great land bridge connected the Eternal Isle and Moridunon. However, a battle between unknown ancient spirits split the lands apart, creating the Shimmering Strait. The most volatile of the lands along the strait coast is Lan Sercene- the Earth-Split-Open. A wide, infertile moorland sits atop high, blue marble cliffs, and the ancient battles that took place during the Dawn have rent monumental caverns into the cliffs below the moor. Most of the settlements in the region sit in coves inside these caverns, such as the port of Belotte, under the cliffs of Losven Isle, Karndar, which watches the northern mouth of the strait from the tip of Sorumis Peninsula, and Garlas Fel, on the southern coast of Sercen’s Maw. Some smaller caves hidden throughout the region are known as black market harbors and refuges of pirates and bandits. Above the cliffs, the acidic ground allows for the growth of a species of red reed-grass unique to the region, said to be stained from the spilled blood of the spirits who fought here. In the coves under the cliffs, the grass is as green as Kingdom Fields’, but the other red flora from above the cliffs grows there too. Great stone arches cross the plains, casting shadows over great pits which drop down into the caverns below. An old road, once connecting Cloudrest to Shimmerene, crosses through the middle of the region, with the market town of Estordil prospering from the two capitals’ trade. However, the Titan’s Wake has severed the cities’ connection, and the road has fallen into disuse, taking Estordil’s prosperity with it. Clan Direnni has seen a resurgence in recent years, however, and emissaries from Castle Tyrigel, on the south edge of the region, have taken an interest in Estordil.
