Fana Glothyn
Vabrais Mar, better known by its Tamrielic moniker, the White Bay, is an area long contested by the elven states of Alinor and Lillandril. Within the bay is a magnificent coral reef, the Fana Glothyn, which lends its name to the rural region. The bay’s unique coral grow in colonies of massive sizes, rising above the water and creating, high, twisting, colorful living islands. These corals are considered to be among the oldest animals in Tamriel, and are associated with Virgyl, an elven god of the sea, whose principal temple, the Communion of Vir, is on the peak of a coral-isle in the center of the bay. Several small villages cling to the edges of coral-isles, including the fisheries of Ecuhame and Phendir. On a high island near the northern edge of the bay is Vabradar, a stronghold continually used since the time of the Dominion, as the bay was a frequent target of the elves’ ancient enemies of the Dreugh and Sload. The islands are also home to many ancestral tombs, as well as Aldmer ruins, including the prominent archaeological site of Hycemistroon. Deep, forested river valleys cut between the high, verdant ridges of the Fana Glothyn coastline, whose granite spires gradually rise up into the highlands of Karnstern and Eton Nir, the lands from which the many great rivers of the region fall from. The rivers are prime locations for the farming of nanga-fruit and beladiil, both of which grow wild in the region’s forests, as well as pyul-taro and other agricultural products. As such, many farming clansteads lie in the valleys, including Tarulas and Sollicich. Sollicich is the famed birthplace of Vanus Galerion, who bought the property from the original owner and lived there until his mysterious disappearance. His granddaughter, Vanus Arecha, curates a memorial to her father in the village, which is a common pilgrimage for Guild Mages in the Isles. Ebonstani is the only city in the region, and one of the richest cities in west Summerset-- not only does it farm and export great amounts of seasilk, seagrapes, and agricultural products, but historical battles between Lillandril and Alinor helped it grow as a neutral trading checkpoint for the two rival states and Cloudrest. Ebonstani lies on the Aluadri River, the largest river in the region, overlooking Grand Aluadri Falls, the largest waterfall in Summerset beyond the holdings of Sunhold. The arcadian glens of the valleys are harshly contrasted by the dark, wild woods of the uplands, which are roamed by fierce wild animals and fae. The eastern uplands are home to a number of Sloadic ruins. Deep in a lost, wooded valley in the middle of the region is the Temple of the Mad God, whose dissident Lorkhanic cultists are rumored to hold salons in cities across west Summerset.
