Elborn Forest
Many of Torinaan’s earliest battles against the Faeries took place in the deep, storied fae-wood of Elborn. Eventually, most of the forest had been cleared out and the beaten-back spirits of the land roamed only in the depths, their faces only rarely peering out towards the road from the deep shade. But in the new era, the woods have been reclaimed by the Fair Folk, especially the parts north of the Titan’s Wake, sundered from Skywatch. Now, Elborn is undoubtedly the most dangerous region of Moridunon, if not Summerset as a whole, despite its serene veneer. The deep, ever-shadowed forest is dominated by the aicanlye, a blue-barked tree with violet leaves, though other trees with red or green leaves are present as well. Teardrop hyacinths, cold-blue bioluminescent vines, hang from the largest trees, while bogflares light fallen logs on the forest floor a brilliant orange. To the north, the woods thin out as they reach the canyons of Corcaran, although those once, too, were fae-wood. To the west and south, a high, rocky ridge starting from Corcaran traces the coast until it curves around to create a natural border to Cirathel. Several small clearings and hidden springs exist within the deep woods, and many of them are the sites of shrines and pilgrimages. The most notable of these is the Fane of Six Strides, a mausoleum said to hold the physical body of Phynaster. On a high precipice near the southern end of the Calambar Ridge, overlooking the Blue Divide, is Skywatch, the seat of Clan Errinorne, and the southern tip of the former Errinorne Sea Complex, a massive military fortification including the island cities of Errinorne and Buraniim, whose fortresses lie in ruin after the march of the Numidium. On the fringes of the region are a number of settlements: Silsailen (famous for its magical lighthouse), the clanhold of Phaer, the mill-town and pilgrim’s rest of Tamlaure, and the strait fortifications at Sternidar.
