Skyrim is politically divided into nine Holds, each ruled by a King or Queen. These regents are - in principle - sworn to the High King of Skyrim, a position which has sat vacant since being claimed by Tiber Imperator at the beginning of the Third Era.
Holds
- Eastmarch Hold - The Kingdom of Eastmarch, ruled by King Asgan Grey-Mantle from Windhelm
- Falkreath Hold - The Kingdom of Falkreath, ruled by King Grovald from Falkreath
- Haafinheim - The Kingdom of Haafinheim, ruled by King Thian from Haafingar
- Hjaalmarch - A holding of King Thian not legally part of Haafinheim
- County Dunstad - Part of Haafinheim not ruled by King Thian
- Hrothgar Hold - The Kingdom of Hrothgar, ruled by King Ylgnar the Quiet from Hrothgar
- The Pale - The Kingdom of Northshore and the Pale, ruled by Queen Macalla from Danstrar
- The Reach - The Kingdom of the Reach, ruled by King Barda the Builder from Markarth Side
- The Rift - The Kingdom of the Rift, ruled by King Styrnjolf from Riften
- White Hold - The Kingdom of Whiterun, ruled by Queen Jsashe from Whiterun
- Winter's Hold - The Kingdom of Winterhold, ruled by Queen Eisir from Winterhold
